Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
It is the single window exam for admissions to MD, MS, PG Diploma, Post MBBS DNB, Direct 6-year DrNB, and NBEMS Diploma courses. This covers all state quotas, All India 50% quota, private medical colleges, deemed universities, and AFMS institutes. Central institutes like AIIMS, PGIMER, JIPMER, and NIMHANS are not covered.
The computer-based exam features 180 multiple-choice questions in English, split into five time-bound sections of 42 minutes each. Candidates earn 4 marks for a correct answer, lose 1 mark for an incorrect answer, and get zero for unattempted questions.
Candidates must successfully finish their 12-month compulsory rotating resident internship on or before 30 September 2026. Uploaded digital photograph profiles must be recent and taken within three months of submitting the application.
General and EWS categories require a minimum of the 50th percentile. General PwBD candidates require the 45th percentile, while SC, ST, and OBC categories (including their PwBD candidates) require the 40th percentile.
Ties are resolved using a descending order protocol: lesser negative responses overall, followed sequentially by lesser negative responses in Sections A, B, C, D, and E. If unresolved, higher aggregate marks in MBBS professional exams (or FMGE) take priority, followed by an older age.
