- Main Written Examination — A descriptive phase comprising 8 narrative-style conventional papers totaling 1,100 marks. Language papers (Hindi and English) require a mandatory 30% qualification bar but are excluded from the final merit calculations.
- Interview Round — A personal assessment round valued at 100 marks, mandatory for inclusion in the final select list ranking.

Candidates pass an initial objective Preliminary screening test followed by a comprehensive descriptive written layout and a face-to-face personal interview round.
Every objective query paper provides 5 choice selections (A through E), where option 'E' indicates "Not Attempted". If an option is left completely blank without bubbling option 'E', a penalty deduction of $1/3$ (one-third) mark will be executed against the candidate.
All qualifying educational records, local native residential statuses, caste endorsements, and disability certifications must be officially issued and dated on or before the final closing deadline of March 20, 2026.
BPSC will filter and select a candidate volume matching 10 times the number of category vacancies for the descriptive Main tests phase. Successful descriptive finishers are shortlisted at a 2.5 times ratio parameter to face the interview assessment round.
If final scores align, priority tracking evaluates performance in the main written examination papers. If written scores match, priority favors the elder applicant, followed by alphabetical sequencing using the Devanagari script layout.
